About the Project

Sources on the 17th-Century French Caribbean brings together a variety of documents concerning the seventeenth-century francophone Caribbean, including travel narratives, legal codes, and administrative correspondence.

Please note: This is a work in progress! The public site is currently under development as I acquire permissions to share images of sources from archives and rare book collections. Documents currently viewable here are only a sample intended to give an idea of the project’s structure.

To browse these documents, use the search feature or select a category or tag of interest, all available on the right-hand side of this page.
